Children's Trust

Children’s Trust Board has been established for the area of West Cheshire.  This is a partnership of organisations from the public, voluntary, community and faith sectors that commission or provide services to children, young people and their families.  The Board sets the vision, direction and context for the medium and long-term commissioning plans of the Children's Trust.

The main strategic priorities for 2011-2012 for the Children's Trust are:-

The Trust has recently been strengthened and re-launched with a new independent Chairman, Moira Swann.

The Trust Board also has responsibility for developing, publishing and reviewing the Children and Young People's Plan.  The Trust Board will be supported by Outcome Change Group Leads whose responsibility will be to ensure that the priorities within the Plan are implemented.

The Children and Young People's Plan sets out the ambitions of the members of the Children's Trust Board for West Cheshire and the steps that they will take to ensure that better outcomes are delivered for all.

In addition, a Children's Trust Executive has been established.  The Executive is the engine room of the Children's Trust and manages the systems and processes required to ensure that multi-agency working results in improved outcomes for children at individual, community and borough-wide level.

A key partner body of the Children's Trust Board is the Local Safeguarding Children's Board (LSCB) which provides scrutiny and challenge to the Children's Trust, particularly around safeguarding to protect children who are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm.  The relationship between the Trust and the LSCB has been formalised by a joint protocol informed by the latest "Working Together" (2010) guidance.
