Recruitment of Community Health Workers

(Latest News - 10th March 2011)

NHS Western Cheshire has secured funding to recruit up to 3 Community Health Workers to support health promotion activities across Chester.

The aim of the Community Health Worker initiative is to work with local people to support them to improve their health and make healthy lifestyle choices.

The Community Heath Workers will be visible and accessible to local people through living and working in the communities they serve providing “support from next door”.

They will engage local people where they are to be found, for example, mothers at the children’s centre or customers at the local pharmacy. Their task is to motivate

individuals to set personal goals for improving their health. They will support people to improve their health and wellbeing and identify barriers to healthier choices. They will

be able to ‘signpost’ people to local services that can support their healthier choices, through their knowledge of the local area.

Are you a good communicator? Do you have a good understanding of the barriers to achieving a healthy lifestyle? Are you prepared to undertake training to help others to

overcome these barriers? If so we would like to hear from you with a view to joining our team.
