"Living Well Together": Formal consultation on joint strategy

Latest News:  3rd January 2012

A joint strategy for the future wellbeing of the communities of West Cheshire

We are writing to invite your views on a strategy document which sets out a joint vision for the future wellbeing of everyone living, working and visiting West Cheshire.  In producing this document we have recognised that our wellbeing is affected by a wide range of social, economic and environmental factors and that creating a sustainable future is entirely compatible with activities to improve our wellbeing.

We are responding to both:

We have sought to update the priorities set out in the existing Sustainable Community Strategy using the intelligence from the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, what people have said is important in the latest community survey and many other sources.  Partners have worked together to consider those key challenges that need to be addressed to make a real difference to the wellbeing of our communities over the next five years.

Our approach focuses on tackling the root causes, as well as dealing with the symptoms, of poor wellbeing.  We have sought to put communities at the heart of what we are trying to achieve and maximise the benefits of many of the assets we share in West Cheshire to give everyone a sense of wellbeing.

We are now ready to share this document with our partners and seek views on whether we have identified the right joint priorities for the future wellbeing of our communities.  Please take some time to consider this document.  Also attached is a helpful summary of the key challenges for ease of reference.

Our consultation period runs until 1st March 2012 and during this time we hope to gain feedback from a wide range of interests and organisations.  Please feel free to circulate this amongst your contacts as appropriate.

The Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board will also be planning to host a summit in spring 2012 to ensure all partners are engaged in understanding the process for developing the joint strategy and are able to debate the key challenges within it.  Further details of this event will be circulated shortly.

If you wish to discuss any aspect of this document further, please contact Andrea Mageean on 01244 977561 (andrea.mageean@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk) or Claire Wildgoose on 01244 650346 (claire.wildgoose@wcheshirepct.nhs.uk).

Your responses should be sent to Lyn Brown (lyn.brown@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk) by 1st March.
