Working in partnership for local people

The DORIC Partnership brings together the Councils, Primary Care Trusts, Police and Fire & Rescue Services in the Cheshire, Halton and Warrington area to make information about people and places easier to access.
June saw the launch of the Phase 1 Data Observatory website, bringing together online information sources that people find useful for a variety of purposes in employment, research, advocacy or education.
So for example, users such as public sector managers, researchers, community groups, business and the public can now access authoritative information about local population and communities, crime, health, the economy and much more. Performance information for public service providers is also accessible through the observatory, as are the results of public opinion surveys about local services.
The information is organised to make it easy for people to find what they need quickly, with headings like Plans & Performance, Children & Young People and Economy, or through a ‘Quick Links’ section. Guidance and advice is provided within the site to help users locate the information they require.
The main benefits to the user and wider community are seen as:
The DORIC Data Observatory can be found on the internet at http://www.doriconline.org.uk
Planned for March 2011, Phase 2 will move forward from the Phase 1 Observatory, incorporating the information within the website itself. It will allow users to compare data, displaying it on rich interactive maps or incorporating it into a report. Phase 2 will bring together the tools needed to work more effectively through better analysis and manipulation of the information available.
Over the next seven months the DORIC partnership will be working with stakeholders to develop the content and functionality of the Phase 2 site.
