Earlier this month, Neston Civic Hall was the venue for a dance night organised by local young people. The event came about after the young people attended a 12-week course to learn DJ and MC-ing skills.
The sessions were funded by the Rural West Area Partnership Board and were held at Neston Youth Zone. Cathy McGhie, Youth Worker, organised the project and Paul Main from DJ Dynamic ran the sessions. The project gave young people an opportunity to learn new skills and then put them into practice at the Neston DJ/dance event.
The DJ/MC-ing training was something that the young people themselves requested, however lack of funding had prevented this from being offered until now. Supporting young people is one of the key priorities of the Rural West Area Partnership Board and so fortunately it was able to step in and assist in getting the project off the ground.
The next step for the Area Partnership Board will be to look at the possibility of rolling out this project to other areas within Rural West.
